It’s too long

Long writing projects make one lose enthusiasm after a certain point of time. This is especially true in book writing projects. But, there is one simple way by which you can maintain your enthusiasm for your project right till the end.

I am one person who loses interest in any writing project that exceeds 2000 words. It was very difficult for me to regain my enthusiasm for the project after that. It was then I found out a great method to keep going till the end.

Break it up

Break up your project into small manageable sections. Then, tackle each one separately. Complete it and put it away before taking the next one.

Example – A fiction book

Let me help you a little by explaining more about this-

• If you are writing a book, break it up into chapters. There may be about 10-15 chapters. Still, each chapter may be about 10 pages and that itself is a pretty huge project (at least, for me, it is!) So, I break up each chapter into scenes there may be around 5-10 scenes in a chapter. Next, I tackle each scene separately for half-hour to an hour. In a few days, a chapter is done and in a month or two, a book is finished. If you are a fast and hard worker, you can complete your book even earlier.

• This sample principle will hold true in case of non-fiction books, white papers, reports, Annual reports, project presentations and articles. Even a small 500 word article would be easier to write if you break it up into points and then elaborate.
